A television may fit a wall composition attractively in a photograph yet feel awkward during a longer viewing session. What matters is your actual line of sight in your usual seated posture. Plan its height from the sofa or chair rather than while standing in front of the wall. One measurement above the floor cannot reliably cover different people, furniture and postures.

Try a provisional outline before installation

First mark the intended outer dimensions using a suitable removable aid or a paper outline. Sit in the positions used regularly. Can you look at the centre and lower portion without deliberately changing posture? Remember subtitles, which often appear near the bottom.

Do not test only sitting upright if you normally recline. Conversely, one person's comfortable position should not force everyone else into an awkward angle. Compare two possible heights and note which seats each affects. This makes a shared compromise easier to understand.

An outline shows geometry but not every property of a real display. Off-axis appearance, reflections and actual text legibility need additional checking during a demonstration or final setup. The height trial remains valuable because it can reveal a basic placement problem without drilling holes.

Consider furniture and audio together

A soundbar or centre speaker needs its own position. Check whether it blocks the image, remote-control receiver or television feet. Do not simply place it in front if important areas disappear. Upward-facing drivers should not be pushed indiscriminately beneath a close shelf either.

With a wall bracket, weight, wall construction and the manufacturer's requirements also matter. Desired screen height is only one part of installation planning. A tilting bracket changes the angle but does not automatically correct an excessively high position. Have unresolved fixing questions checked appropriately rather than assuming that a suitable screen size establishes a suitable mounting arrangement.

Watch for longer before deciding

If a safe temporary setup is possible, watch an ordinary scene with speech and subtitles. One brief impressive image says little about everyday comfort. Keep walking routes and required ventilation clear. After the trial, record the seating position and screen height actually used. That is more useful for later installation than remembering that the television looked roughly right.
